Post a link up to the photo, if it's the bit from the steering wheel I bought one from DanThe a few years back you have to send your old one back though.

Not solid has the rubber bit in the middle so I may be talking out of my backside and on the wrong end of things....... ;o))))))

I have some every so slight play in my shaft, that price is a lot but since BMW no longer manufactures one.....i wonder if the German TÜV would cause problems for me and if i could slide a rubber guibo in there for vibrations.

Dante refurbs the originals (no Mart I am not on commission) as I bought one from him, you just need to send your old one back.

Just to clear things up, I don't do a reconditioning service, I may have sold a good standard one on a part ex basis a few times, I definitely don't do commission :)

You can buy the rubber section new from BMW and fit it yourself with the bolts supplied.

The linkages I make are mainly for conversion purposes, its slimmer and shorter than the original and also has no rubber section, unfortunately some people don't understand the concept of how much new custom parts made in low volume cost to have manufactured, im not going to explain, but I will explain that the reason I now only use brand new parts manufactured by specialists is that I have removed far too many bodged up linkages from E30's that were falling apart, most of them resemble an old corsa part, some had been sold by so called specialists and a small handful had detached from the column while it was driving...

Thank you for clearing that, i must check with German TÜV first if this is allowed, since it is technically a change to a factory item, BUT it is no longer available and used ones will last only so long before hitting the same issue again. Especially with H-Historic plates that i am keen on getting in Jan.

My son got his H plate a year or so back as his is an older model 86 I think we had to swap the lights out for Smiley's as they are adjustable, I think he took it for the test it failed then he sorted out the failures and re did the test.

Where are you located in Germany by the way, I know the profile states Bavaria but which city/town?

Quick search for the part number reveals the rubber coupling and special bolts are indeed available, upper UJ also available.

In Bayern/Bavaria. As i did the TÜV earlier this year, the Prüfer informed me on two issues that he let slide by this time. One was the adjustable headlight function was not working (the sealed/hydraulic ones, not the electric) and the driver's side hand brake was weak while the passenger side was too tight. I am planning on getting the headlights adjuster from Hella and sort out the parking brake/hand brake next week, Jan 2021 i should be able to get H plates.

As far as the steering shaft is concerned, i am unsure what options we have on replacing a bad one which is NLA from BMW.

If you remove the adjusters it should pass,

My son lived in Frankfurt for a few years but moved to a new job in Hamburg a few years back, are you German BTW?
