After taking my car to the mechanic I have realized a lot of work needs to be done especially with the engine and body rust ( wheel arches ...) with that being said I am now going for the sleeper build engine swap option and a future weekend toy that I could take to track days.
What’s your guys thoughts on swapping a 316 Engine for something more powerful.
What’s the cheapest or stress free option?
Should I sell the car and buy a more powerful model and build up in it ?
I’m looking to spend around 7000€ to finish the project
Any opinions from previous engine swap owners would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Nigel

Welcome Nigel! Where are you located? There's no shortage of engine swaps you can do. You need to decide what you want from the swap really. Have a look at the engine swaps and forced induction section on the forum, should give you plenty of ideas. One thing to consider is you'd need to look at swapping to 51mm front struts and find some rear disc trailing arms to make sure you can stop ANY engine swap you intend to do.

I’m based in Paris and I’m definitely going to do a full disc conversation and upgrade .
I’m looking for something simple/ easy to complete as I don’t have much experience in fabrication and in terms of power more than I have now I originally wanted the 318is and just came across a M42 engine gearbox and wiring loom with 140000km for 500€ look into installing it into my 316.
My plans for the car is to daily it during the week and enjoying it on the country roads the weekend.
