After a long Hiatus and an E30 less life I have come to my senses and realized the reason I spent so much time on my old sport was because I fell in love with the e30 after starting my first job at Hallamshire motors in Sheffield in the early nineties. They still make me smile to this day and I feel the need to save another, or maybe another dozen or so as I work my way back up to a Lachs silver sport!

Big thanks to Iain Hamilton for getting me back into my old account ( and Dan for pointing me in the right direction) .

Welcome back :D

Saw the pictures of the work you did on that sport, one photograph told me all I would want to know about how you built the car.

No surprise it is still in good order

It is a bugbear of mine where I see people butcher so much good original metal out of a car just to fit the full, utterly random shape of a repair panel into the car :cens:

Good work, long may it continue on the next one :thumb:

Thanks! I've always preferred the minimalist approach to doing repairs whilst still achieving the desired end result (getting rid of the rust). Like you say no point cutting away good metal especially when replacing it with something that wont look right.

Welcome back! It's like some people are determined to get the full value out of what they've paid for a repair panel.
So, you've got the account back. When's the E30 coming to complement it?

I have got a house move on the very near horizon which has enough space for a decent garage/ workshop but also needs the house extending. once that's taken care of Ill start the climb back up to getting another Lachs sport. I see lots of rust and fabricating in my future to get there. I really shouldn't have sold that car!!!

Rather foolishly I sold it several years ago and wasn't in a position to buy it back when it was offered. It is now being lovingly cared for by it's current owner on the isle of man. It was the nostalgic love of this car which has drawn me back and also the need to know that it was still around. I don't have the cash to throw at purchasing another sport right now but with a bit of work I think I can build the piggy bank up, hopefully by saving a few other e30's from the scrapyard along the way.
