Hello All,
I have bought a 1992 E30 Cabrio which had been converted from LHD. The wing mirror control switch is still on the left hand door.
What sort of job is it to move the switch to the right hand door?
Is there a connection in the loom to allow this?
Would appreciate any advice before I start, many thanks, Al.

A little bit of me finds that quite funny. How good are you technically? Fundamentally it should be very straight forward to make a fly loom to the drivers side door and move the switch to the drivers side.

Electric mirrors were standard, so it's part of the main loom, not a separate loom for an 'option'.
I presume that it's not just the mirror switch that is on the wrong side, but also the deadlock arrangement (key goes both ways on LH door, but only one way on RH), and the red/black wires for the central locking and the interior light delay unit wiring.
All the wires you need to connect to the mirror switch are present in both doors, except the 12 v + ignition switched feed to the switch from fuse 19.

My initial idea was to swap over the internal door looms, which have identical plugs, so would plug into the A pillar sockets on the opposite sides, but although the plug shells are the same, the pin arrangement is considerably different, so several pins would have to be moved around.

I think the best solution would be to swap the door looms over, but to cut and splice the plugs (except for the green/black wire) so that they stay on the side they are. All you would then need to add is a pin and feed from fuse 19 to the RH A pillar socket.
Note that there is a mistake in the circuit diagram for the mirrors. Blue and black at the actual mirrors are the wrong way around. Also the green/black I've referred to changes to green/white at the door plug.

Thanks rix313, which bit is that - your brain?
My first thought was to do that, but wondered if the door looms could be easily swapped.
Thanks Brianmoooore, Lots of useful info - cheers.Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 11:29 pmElectric mirrors were standard, so it's part of the main loom, not a separate loom for an 'option'.
