Hey zone
My clutch slipped today - or at least I think that’s what happened... I was pulling around a corner in first with a good amount of revs (not super high) and it made a weird bang noise and the clutch pedal went all stiff. I pulled over straight away.. and then it loosened up like it never happened.
Drove home fine. Any thoughts, does this just happen sometimes? Was it a slip or is it a sign of failing clutch? Just to note the clutch is brand new Sachs one with a resurfaced fly wheel 3 months ago.

Whatever this was, it doesn't fit into my idea of a slipping clutch. If really pushed to make a diagnosis, I'd guess that something in the mechanical part of the clutch actuation wasn't seated properly when the clutch was replaced, and now has snapped into place.

I would agree with Brian above, it sounds like something not seated properly.
Three things it could be.
If the pressure plate has been torqued down on top of the locating pins (or something else) then it could have suddenly located, this would leave some of the pressure plate bolts loose. However it is unlikely the clutch would have worked normally from the start if this were the case.
The thrust bearing dislodging because it might be the wrong one or was not located properly in the release arm.
Most likely is the release arm pivot jumping out of its location because the retaining spring is weak or missing.
If it happens again I would be tempted to take the box off to check

If it happens again I’ll absolutely take a look. Thanks for responses
