I bought my 316 with no heat, a misfire and a noisy top end and yesterday the last of my £550 Autodoc order turned up so it was time to fire up the parts cannon!

Last week I had a garage replace my diff and gearbox oil as well as the front discs and pads.

So after a lot of tea, and a little bit of cutting we replaced the following parts:

-camshaft/hydraulic tappets/rockers
-cambelt and pulleys
-water pump
-clutch fan
-ignition system
-thermostat and coolant

If took me and a buddy approx. 6 hours which is good considering we're not car mechanics.

The only thing that gave us trouble was the old fan clutch, it had seized on the the water pump shaft which required some action with the 9" death wheel to extract the pump pulley.

Safe to say it runs a treat now, still needs a few hoses changing to stop the vaccum leaks and steady the idle, the bed in procedure for the cam was straightforward and the whole job fairly easy.

Big shout out to Al from yourmotorclub in Plymouth, he has a lift/garage hire business where you can rent a bay and tools and DIY on your car, it was a massive help and much easier that doing it on the drive.
