Rear exhaust pipe clearance

Anyone know how close the talepipe should be to the rear metal valance, no body kit fitted, it doesnt say anywhere, but just as close as you can without touching, yeah?

I would have thought a bit of a gap, max an inch? To allow for pesky speed bumps and crap roads riddled with potholes. No banging then.

I think I need to split the rear silencer joint and re set it - the system is too low, and if I force it higher there's too much stress -
I've already had two rear silencer strap brackets fail and a rubber hoop split on my last 12 hour drive -
