Hi, I've just got off the phone to my local BMW specialist as I wanted a quote to change my cambelt on my 87 325 and I nearly had to sit down £386, Does that sound right? It does include the fitting, belts, coolant and water pump.

I don't think that's far wrong, but if you have tools it's easy enough to do yourself - there's plenty of info in the wiki and elsewhere - can be done for the cost of the belt, pulley, water pump and camshaft front seal ( a good idea whilst your in there )

I agree with Paul. I was a bit tentative about doing it myself, but it's really straight forward. Also a really good way of getting to know your car too.

And another vote for the DIY option. I'm no mechanic and I managed it without too much trauma.
