I was having a look around ebay and noticed it's back up for sale again. He's been trying to sell it for a while now and i'm a bit suprised it hasnt already gone cause i know he's spent a lot of money on it. It was on seeing his engine that made me want to bling mine too and i know the price is asking is less than what's under the engine alone, so why hasn't it sold? I dont know much about prices of coupe's but do you guys think he's asking too much in todays climate? :(

Ha, ha. Too much pasta for lunch :D

the car is so individual that I guess it is one of those cars that is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay.

Assuming the shell etc is absolute tip-top then i guess that price ain't too bad, but there is a lot on the car i would lose, such as the wheels, revert the interior to standard (hate the blue bits) and not keen on the E46 gills on the wings too.

But for the money that has been spunked under the bonnet and the rest of the mechanicals, it is an excellent starting point and you could not create the mechanical spec on that car even if someone gave you a mint and free E30 2dr to start with for that price.

To be honest I'd rather pay Ԛ£4750 for the same engine mods etc on a standard looking car than one with the indicator wing mirrors, e46 m3 vents and the interior how it is.
VERY tidy engine bay though, love it!

The problem with modding a car is that things like the engine you can always do so 99% of the people that see it will like it, but the body of a car is always an individual thing. Even my car comes in that category. Everyone loves the engine bay, but everyone will do something different on the body to how i have and that's where your problems lay when you come to sell. The more the car is modded, the less your market. Fcuk it, i think i'll send the booty wagon back and get a pink respray with matiching pink fluffy interior, then i could never sell her.

I do love that engine of Dale's. I know how expensive it all is cause i spoke to Mirage about getting some of his other bits he has and was quoted Ԛ£1k for the washer bottle alone  :D

I'm sure when he built it like most modders, he wasn't thinking about whether people on the Zone would like to buy it. He was spending his hard earned cash on what he liked, chav to some or not. winkeye

It is a shame though that we all slate anyone who tries to be different, cause wouldn't it be boring if we all drove standard E30's with 17" Alpina's? :D

I've noticed that when someone post's a standard car in the photo's section, everyone comes out with how nice it is, even though it's a pile of sh@t, but anything modded and you're in for a special Zone treatment. So much so that Gouki got such a slating when he joined that he's starting to clone his car to almost standard just to be accepted here (All my openions of course, but i think sadly it's true) Well some of us like our chav kits and bling and we're taking over the World. When i win the lottery i'm going to buy every E30 out there and chop them up and stick massive kits and even bigger wheels and stuff on them, then we'll see where you'll all be winkeye :D

Ok. Who can tell i haven't got much to do at work ??? :D

I think he will struggle to sell it at that price purely because the sort of people interested in a car that looks like that (chavs) dont have any money and the ones that have stolen enough to be able to afford it wont appreciate the expense that is involved in building an engine bay like that. They will just look at it as an old kitted up car.

It may well be worth the money to the right person, its just finding that person at the right time.

Like people have said, i love the engine bay, i like the interior too but i hate the e46 grils and the e36 wheels.

If it was for sale at 3500 i think he would have more interest.

The dbilas throttle bodies are worth around Ԛ£3k alone...

So his price isn't so bad, really...However, it would be a shame to junk all the customisation just cos you liked the engine or suspension...Definitely a car for someone who wants a custom job rather than a track car or a standard road machine...

Buster i like the M-Tech with Alpina look. I'm just saying it would be boring if we all did it. Besides you car will leave most E30's including mine standing and mine cost much more than your's, but that's exactly the point i'm trying to make. I built mine for show 1st and go 2nd. I wouldn't want any young 17 year olds chocking whilst lick my lolly now would i :D

I'd buy Dales car if i had the money, chuck his engine in mine and break the rest of the car up, but it would be a real shame cause i'm sure someone somewhere is looking for just this car winkeye

I'll buy them all too G :D Besides i wont have to cause there are much more chav'd up cars in the E36 community than there are in the E30.

I nearly moved to the darkside yesterday myself. Beautiful P Reg. E36 M3 Evo with only 34k miles and cream leather interior to die for and all for Ԛ£7.5k, until i noticed it was a LHD :(

To be honest, i think the Alpina's and the BBS Rs's are the 2 best wheels ever made for the E30. There are lots a close 2nd, but those 2 are the daddy for me, then 3 spoke TSW's winkeye

This is the link to the E36 that nearly tempted me to the darkside yesterday. It's the M3 in the 5th box down from the top with the multi photos. You can also enlarge the pictures when you open the link so you can see better winkeye

If it wasn't i own it by now. As much as love the E30, it would be nice to have something modern and more powerful too, especially as i intend to keep the booty wagon, but for now it's back to the search for a nice clean E30 cab to build my Euro dream. Unless of course another E36 comes up that looks that good for that kind of dollar, then i will be crossing over winkeye :D

dale's car is an absolute bargain for the engine alone!

pay Ԛ£4750 and you have an engine comparable to scot's, which cost Ԛ£10k!

he has spent a LOT on that car and it is definitely worth Ԛ£4750, just not to a 'purist' (puritan?).

mind you i do say this cos i despise the alpina/15" bbs and m-tech2 look....it's like blue scooby's and gold wheels (never seen that combination before!)...

What a stupid thing to say on an E30 forum. Not all of us can afford to change our cars looks. Sorry if that offends you! "Despise" - thats a strong reaction!

Those throttle bodies cost roughly Ԛ£1500-Ԛ£1800.

The engine management system is Ԛ£1700 fitted and mapped and is a real piece of kit.

The actual engine itself is standard 325i with a Schrick cam so nothing special there to be quite honest.

I wonder if he will sell me the throttle bodies and the MBE......mmmm......

Conan i think you're taking Moofles comments out of contest dude. He was just saying what i've already said that the Alpina/E30 thing is not new. Yes it looks good, but not new. He's just said it in a very direct way

That's still Ԛ£3.5k you've just mentioned there Sal. I know how much the bling cost from Mirage including like i said Ԛ£1k for the washer bottle, so that engine is way over his asking price still. I did once suggest that he might be better off breaking the car, but he didn't wanna otherwise that engine will have a new home winkeye
