A few days back the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and the fluid ran out onto the driveway. It seems to be leaking out where the gearbox meets the bell housing. My theory is the seal on the slave cylinder has gone and it is now squirting fluid into the gearbox. Does this sound likely? Anything else I should check? I will replace the slave cylinder during the week. I did replace it about 5 years ago.

You are correct that the clutch slave seal has failed, but when this happens, the piston in the master cylinder goes a little further down the bore than it does when the clutch is working, and disturbs the ring of crud that forms there over the years. This not only finishes off the master cylinder seal, but the crud can find is way down into your nice new slave cylinder if it's not changed as well.
