Hey guys,
I'm in the process of refurbishing my engine whilst its out of the car and i want to repaint the timing belt covers and a connector pipe at the back of the engine, and I was wondering if anyone knew a colour code or a particular colour that they are supposed to be. I think I need to match what the head is? Which is just aluminium.
Cheers

Steel parts are satin black and all alloy bits are self coloured - sometimes with a bit of yellow factory weatherproofing wax still in odd corners.

If your alloy parts are badly stained, they can be vapour blasted back to original finish. It is a very gentle process and will not harm them.
Alternatively you can get some alloy coloured paint from Frosts restorations and paint them to give a clean alloy look.

All steel parts have been done in tetrosyl etch, u-pol primer and 2k satin black and they are beautiful!
I've blasted all of the aluminium bits with aluminium oxide and they are a pasty white/grey. I'm leaving the head as it is as its very clean. it just looks a big darker and I'd like to match that. Maybe paint will be the best.
Cheers guys.
