I've started stripping my car out to race (facelift 320i), the interior is completely gone and I've disturbed loads of the wiring, got rid of the car alarm and some other redundant bits like ABS electrics, bits of OBC that were left etc. But now I don't have a live to the fuel pump. It's the in-tank one, should have a green/violet wire live. (I've joined the green wires where the OBC loom plugged in under the glove box so there is a live there). I've run a permanent live to the pump from the sidelights (only thing handy) and its fine as a bodge to get the car running, but what is the source for the live supposed to be? (Where does the wire end up at the front of the car?). And what are the likely causes for the fault? I don't have any electronic fault finding kit, just a brake light bulb and a couple of bits of wire so I can see whats live, so nothing too complicated please as I won't be able to measure anything like resistances at ECU etc.

Cheers

Think it's supposed to pop out of the multi plug thing near the fusebox, then find it's way to a relay under that little cover in front of the N/S shock tower that houses a pair of relays if that's any help? :)

What are you doing with all the stuff you stripped from the car?

I am after an OBC indicator.

Can you help?

The live feed comes from the Engine loom and is controlled by the Motronic system, the wire comes through the large round connector which joins the car loom to the Engine loom and then through the fuse box via fuse 11 then through the fire wall and down the left handside of the car.
You can see the wire coming out of one of the relays next to the air box under the black cover.
