Thinking about modifying the engine on my 89 325 I sport auto, what's the best recommendation don't want to go mad in costs

A Mild chip will perk it up nicely for £40 posted.

Swap to a manual will probably be the best pound for your.. pound.

Before any modifications check how far are You from stock 170/171 hp.
