Hi I have an E30 318i 2 door 1990 it's an automatic.

I've spent a lot in restoring the body, full mtec2 kit full respray,

Only thing now is power!

I really want a 325 inside but need to retain my automatic transmission

What am I looking at for parts to engine swap and keep it an auto also what kind of money am I looking to part with?

Why does it need to stay auto?

You will need an m20 and all ancillaries that go with with and an auto box. Might as well go for a switchable auto if you must go down that route.

I sold a drop in m20 conversion (manual) for £400 recently. That was relatively cheap to give you some idea

sports injury on my knee few years back, daily driver e90 auto, e30 as a hobby- hence auto
