So it tryed to trace the fault on the rear marker light on the drivers side,so far iv fixed the plate light, that was the head light switch, but to get it through the mot i tapped in to the marker lights and used a rely to switch power on to it,now i fixed the cause i removed the rely,(sorry brian mooore,i bodged it)so today i have been looking for the fault ,i opened the check modual no sign off anything bad,so i tried bodging again,im deserate because my brake light switch failed a month ago and the local bobby came up behind me straight away  got a ticket, and sorted it straight away and paperwork needed,so i dont want any more trouble and fly straight :D theres no power to the driver side marker light so i tryed to power both off the working one, well that made things a hole lots worse and lights went mental and poped a fuze too.
Any ideas,no more bodging,promise

Andy,

Check fuse 22 which supplies power to the left (NS) rear sidelights - is this the one that blew when you tried to attach the right side to the left?

Also check fuse 23, this powers the right hand (OS) rear sidelight.

I'm guessing you have a short in the right side feed - causing fuses to blow - If you have a meter, check continuity from output of the check box (58R1) and the bulb centre (OS) connection, also from the same check box pin to earth - should not be a short circuit. ( do this with lights off of course )

Also is there power at 58R (grey/white) ? this comes from the dash switch.

If you have frayed cable covering, the black tape stuff around the boot, it's possible a cable has rubbed a short as they are held by crappy metal tabs -

other than the above its just a slow process of trial and error...
