heres the "buts":
-he wont sell the original motor with it.
-it has a small amount of rust.
-he will chuck in a 3.5 and 4 speed auto out of an e34 can this bolt up to the original open diff?

If it is an auto, it is NOT a M635. Being a 3 speed it will be an old pre '82 w4nker and more than likely a horrible old pig. It will also need $15000 spending on it to make it a $5000 car , most do :(

So he is keeping the good bits and selling you the tat thats left over? If it was any good he wouldn't be taking the engine out. Leave it alone mate.

OK, First of all, that is most definitely NOT an M635 and never was. Like most BMWs of that era (you can throw the E30 into that camp) they rot from the inside out. The E24s inner wings turn to orange dust as do the inner sills etc. The fact you can actually SEE rust is a worrying sign. Walk away, as quickly as your legs will carry you. There is no such thing as a "cheap" E24. I've had one. It looked mint. It wasn't.

It's a pre impact bumper valance. Fitted to the 635csi as standard and an option on the 628i.

What M90? There is no picture of an engine and even if it is there, it's not included in the sale.

And yes the engine and box from a 5 series will fit, but seriously, the car is a turd. WALK AWAY!

Also the seller makes no reference to it being an M635csi, that's something that you've come up with yourself (probably because it has an M badge on the boot). The M90 is an M30 with bigger bore and shorter stroke.

Luckily most people seem to want the aesthetically challenged Highline, so the early better looking E12-based ones are still 'on the cusp' :duck:

Cheap ones are out there, try looking for a 628CSI which are still unloved. I bought this one for £444 with a broken gearbox:

You'll need to find someone who knows exactly what they're doing if you're taking on a project though + the bits that are rusty will be rusty on all the donor cars out there, so don't expect to find many cheap second hand parts:
