I'm dismantling my headlights to give them a refresh, but can't get the adjuster knob off the frame. I can separate parts 5 and 6 in the following diagram http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... Id=63_0072

How should they come apart? I tried using a socket and spanner but the socket is slipping over the nut (part 5). From the diagram it looks like they might be a push fit but pulling apart didn't get me anywhere either.[/list]

Release #5 from the headlight frame by twisting it 90 degrees and if the threaded bolt has been freed from the cup it sits in there's no reason to remove #6.

Are you sure that #5 is a twist 90 degree to release part, I say that because many of the other parts are but #5 seems different to those.

I need to remove #6 so I can sand down and re spray the frame.
