Hi,

I have a prefacelift convertible and the windows are live without the key in the ignition, I am guessing I'm right in thinking that this isn't normal and if so does this mean someone has wired them into a permanent live?

I can't remember if my last convertible did this, but I don't think it did.

Thanks in advance

Should only be live with ignition off if a door is open.

Check that one of the plastic knobs that actuate the door switches isn't missing.

This is true with factory fitted electric windows. Dealer fitted windows don't use the same parts as factory fitted, and may be wired differently.

Brian and Ben thank you for your advice, I will check this and get back to you, as I can't remember if when I was pressing the switches it was with the door open or closed now

Thank you

Did any convertibles leave the factory without electric windows?

You might have a point there! I really should read posts more accurately.
