After seeing Jim's thread, decided I need to get a load of parts passivated as things are looking ropey, however after making inquiries, there's no one who does it locally.

Wondering if anyone has had any success with the kits you can buy online?

Thanks

Ross

Got a link to the kits?

Passivating is something I probably can give decent advice on.

This is the one I had seen, but there's quite a few available:

Nut used one, but this thread does show that these kits can produce excellent results.

Trevor B7 had a go with a home kit with mixed results.

I've been using collinschemicalblacking.co.uk for several years now.

Its an electro plate process that was used on various fittings and parts on earlier BMW's including E30's.

Many parts when bought new from BMW are not done in this finish anymore due to EU legislation.

Jim's been getting a bit carried away with it recently. Plating things that were never plated such as the tool kits in the boot tray!

My kit works but to be honest? it's all a bit heath robinson and long winded to be honest.
