alright guys, I've seen a 325i se for sale, 1990, 150k MOT'd and TAX'd. completely standard i.e seats and bumbers. body work has seen better days. a good few dents on the bonnet. by the looks of it, the lacquer is peeling on the off side rear quarter. rear bumper is not fitted properly on off side corner. its got original bbs's. engine wise its sound. battery tray is showing signs of rust. the underside is quite solid. jacking points are good. no rust showing on scuttle. checked under carpets and its all dry. (had been raining on the day) he has NO history what so ever with the car. just the car, V5 and a set of keys. its going for £1650.00. i work on cars my self so labour for mechanical and welding work wouldn't be an issue. body work wise i reckon it would cost about £1500 to put right. plans are to keep it original (maybe sport interior later) what you guys think? tried to describe as much as i could.

thanks

A running 325i of any kind for that price is not easy to find these days, and an SE should have some decent morsels on it.

Without pics though, it's impossible to give you a proper evaluation.

A bonnet with issues wouldn't put me off. It's the one panel that's common to all models, and doesn't have any 'weak points', other than the foam insulation pads breaking up, so should be easy to get a replacement in the same colour.

P.S it won't be taxed as soon as you sign on the dotted line mate so you may want to haggle the price a bit more to compensate for that :thumb:

Existing tax will be refunded directly to whoever is on the current V5C, and the only way you can drive it home legally is to tax it at the time of the deal online (I presume this can be done??), or pre book an MOT test with your friendly local tester.

VED is refunded after DVLA receive the V5c,so it can be argued that you can drive a newly purchased car home from a private seller,as the buyer also signs the V5c.

If it's fairly solid body wise it's worth the money. I'd moan about the lack of history and wave 1500 under the sellers nose before paying 1650 though!
