Old to new headlights wiring, please help!

Hi all, just wanted to confirm the change on lights”¦ I'm changing from the 'bullseye lights to a post facelift headlight.. so my old ones have a connector with 3 prongs and 2 on the other light and the new ones have just 2 on each light”¦ Do i try and find a plug to fit the new ones with a bit of wire on them and then simply solder my 2 or my three wires (the two earth wires) together and simply make in to one? Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks Justin
When I did this I got a set of sockets from the loom of a later car, chopped the sockets from my loom then soldered them on.
I had originally planned to make up a couple of mini looms to go between the earlier main loom and the newer lights but was unable to find all the plugs needed.
