Is it doable/viable to attempt myself having never done it before ?
Do I have to remove the injectors and everything ? Anyone got a guide ?
I can get help next week but itching to get it done so i can also fit a new strut brace ive got

If the new inlet manifold doesn't have injectors fitted, then you'll have to fit some if you expect the car to run!
All straightforward DIY, but you'll need new O rings for the injectors.

Ah I see thought so, no it's a bare manifold nothing fitted , everything else is on the car running , are they specific o rings ? Ive not got new ones but do have a big box of assorted o rings ? Are they likley to be in there ?
How does it work ? Do I remove the manifold with injectors on then swap it all over to new one and re fit ? Or fit the new manifold then fit the injectors ?

Remove the fuse for the fuel pump (11 i think) and run the car until it dies. Also remove the fuel cap. This depressurises the system. The injector loom is seperated by undoing the connector underneath the manifold, just twist and pull apart. It's all straight forward stuff.

Ok got that part
Also looking on Google at various threads, it says I need a uj socket ? Only socket UJ I have I think is a little one in a little 1/4 drive set , will that work ? And re fitting the pipe thing in to the block sounds tricky ? Ive got new seals for that also

Doing this isn't like doing a lego kit, but it's really not rocket science. Just folly Cloggy's advice, undo jubilee clips with screwdrivers, and undo bolts with sockets. Don't drop anything into the engine.

I've done a manifold and I'm no expert.
The metal breather tube is one of the hardest parts - you need new o rings, take a note/photo of where the rings and washers go before you take it apart. To reassemble you need to compress the spring, use 2 small cable ties to hold it compressed, then fit the pipe with the o rings and washers in the right order into the block. Then fit the manifold, then cut the cable ties which release the spring and the pipe will then fit into the manifold.
It is NOT possible to fit the metal pipe once the manifold is in place - you simply cannot get the angle to fit it into the hole in the block - the pipe will only fit vertically and to do that the only way is the above way.
Also take a photo of the routing of the fuel pipes before you take it apart so you can re route them correctly - it is a good idea to change the fuel pipes whilst you have the space with the manifold off- you can also get at the fuel filter much easier too.
If you're not in a rush and want a real improvement get your injectors off to injector tune for cleaning - they're I'll come back witha before and after report as well as new o rings.
I don't remember having to use a UJ to do this but it was a while ago.mwhat I do remember is that the last manifold nut right up against the bulkhead is awkward to get to and I lost a socket down onto the top of the gearbox which I thought I would never see again - thankfully I managed to extract it with a magnet.
Take your time and good luck.

Remove air cleaner
Remove t/b(you is fitting a different one,do not forget to un-plug the TPS)
Un-bolt the manifold, row of 11mm nuts top and bottom.
Dis-connect the injector loom.
Dis-connect fuel pipes.
Slide manifold partway off the studs, reach under and push the breather pipe down to clear the manifold.
Lift manifold off.
With manifold on the bench, remove fuel rail and injectors.
Post injectors to Injectortune.
When injectors are returned,re-fit to new manifold.
Compress breather pipe spring with two small cable ties, slide spring onto breather pipe, slide a lightly oiled O ring on,place in hole in block.
Slide manifold onto studs and loosely fit new washers and nuts, cut cable ties and locate breather pipe in manifold.
Re-connect injector loom.
Tighten manifold nuts.
Fit BBTB and plug in TPS.
Fit air cleaner.

Grrr indeed! Touching on one of my pet hates here - jubilee clips with chewed up heads!Grrrmachine wrote: undo jubilee clips with screwdrivers,
BMW clips have a 6mm male hex. for most clips, and 5.5mm or 5mm for the very small ones, and should always be undone and done up with the appropriate sized socket. No slipping, and no chewed up head.

Ive got a new fuel filter, injectors were refurbished with new parts and re flowed only last year so they won't need doing, everything is pretty much new I iust want to swap the manifold over for this new one
I'm just going to pick it up and to bmw to pick up some bits , and il lay everything out and double check ive got everything needed 1st, then go from there ,il add some pics to this thread when I get back ...

Managed to get the manifold off myself today, bit of a job bit tricky but got it done
Given the injector rail and fuel regulator a nice new coat of paint and got everything ready for the new one to go on tomrrow with a bit of zone love
