I'm after a bit of advice on doing an m20 flywheel conversion on an m52 2.8, With this conversion the lip on the flywheel fouls against the sup i was wondering if there would be an issue with using the 5mm thick shim from an auto box. The only issues with using one of these that i can see is there's no dowel to aid in keeping the flywheel centered and also spacing the flywheel out would mean its not fully on the lip its meant to fit on would this be an issue?
I was also wondering if i were to space out the flywheel if this would allow me to use a non e21 release bearing as i know that an e21 release has to be used i have also heard of people modifying the fork to run a non e21 release bearings but i can find any write ups on how to do this.
Bellow is a diagram of how the shim(part 3) was used in an auto setup and some a pic of it on my engine
Any Advice would be appreciated
Dale
