Google 'Avloy' a thermo formable film which when formed is placed into an injection moulding machine and moulded into the finished part. ( the film being the decorative surface)

Volvo are one of many oem manufacturers using wood effect plastics in their products.

ECP used to have it in their catalogue circa 2001.

Thankfully they don't anymore. :)

i did a crazy thing and typed "BMW E30 wood effect trim" and got the walnut dash company who do real/wood effect kits for BMW E30s 8O

......maybe try that.

Don't know why you would want to do it but hydro dipping seems to be all the rage atm especially in america but there are companies in the UK that do it
