Hi,
When i start up my 318i the car idles fine and drives ok but after switching the car off and then starting it again a short while after the idle is all over the place.
The car will idle between 800rpm and 1500 rpm revving up and down on its own until it eventually stabilises and idles again normally.
I have checked the hoses for a vacuum leak but nothing appears to be leaking. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

The nearest I have seen to what you describe turned out to caused by a faulty ICV (idle control valve).
