Hi
Was replacing ball joint on my daily Honda and noticed that Steering rack gater (boot) is split in to two, exposing inner track rod and main bar to the elements. The rack is power assisted and looks dry and shiny inside. So my question would be: is it supose to be dry or I should apply some sort of grease on it. Was trying to find the answer on the net but there seems to be mixed opinions on this, one saying it should be dry an leave it and others sayin that general grease will do the job.

I know question is not about e30 but steering rack is a steering rack, right?

its got moving parts, grease it up a little, and most importantly put a boot on to keep the dust and water out
