was wondering how much it would cost roughly to get a bodyshop to replace my inner and outer rear arches including the price of the arches, labour and paint?
thanks

its only really the inner arches that need doing now, the outer arches only have surface rust on the lip, but no rust on the outside of the car.
would i be best getting both done at the same time?
how would the cost vary? im guessing it will be around half the price to just do the inner arches?
thanks

All depends how much welding and fabrication is needed but if get a friendly mobile welder who knows his game, do all the donkey work yourself and get a proper paint job....estimate £600 a side parts and labour.

From them pics in the original ad I can safely say them outer arches will not put up much of a battle against an enthusiastically
wielded screwdriver, never mind a wire wheel attached to a grinder !

thanks guys, unfortunately you may be right pete. if I don't get them done for 2-3 months are they likely to get significantly worse in that time, or is there anything i can do as a temporary repair until later. or is the only way replacing them as soon as possible?

I thought barry said recently inner arches are NLA?
Outer arches, googoogle them, Cleveland have stock for example
Unless inner ones are completely gone, you can use outer arch panels to rebuild the inner arch edges, well the first couple of inches in with some fabrication.

that's not good , so are they completely NLA or is it just a long wait time to get some?bss325i wrote:World wide back order for outer section inner wheel arches as are 2dr facelift rear quarters as are M3 scuttle panels!
can a bodyshop rebuild them if they aren't completely rotten and there is enough material left?

No 5 is usually rusted / holed on the rear edge and on the side but local repairs are usually adequate. Detailed 'gape' pics will allow us to give more accurate opinions . Don't be shy with the screwdriver !

The guy sorting my E30 at the moment is going to weld up the inners I believe unless he deems that too much in which case he'll get some inners to weld in but rather then cutting the outer arches he's going to tin and lead them.
He's assured me it'll be just as good as a cut and weld jobby and it's quicker thus cheaper.
He's doing my whole car at a cost of about £1300 + Paint which will be around that price as well.
Doesn't seem worth it for a 320i sometimes

my welder says he will do the rear arch repairs inner and outer for 200 quid a side IF i remove interior in rear and grind all surviving metal back to solid structure to save him donkey work. im going to lead the finish and skim it with filler and etch prime, rutsproof as much as possible then my painter says 500 quid + for window line repaint in schwartz black. probably save 500 quid by doing prep work.

I have to say, having done it for vintage stuff, lead is the fastest substance know to man when its hot and on a panel.
It's 0-floor time is about 2 nanosecond.
