The bottom of the dash under the steering wheel has fallen down and when I press the clutch down my foot gets trapped underneath.

Is there anybody who has had this before and knows how to fix it?

There's a clip on the bottom of the steering column that the back bottom edge sits in. You'll have to take the 3 clips out of the top edge to clip it in.
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

There should also be a plastic screw that goes through it into the steering column surround underneath.

There's a place for one, but I've yet to come across any E30 with one fitted.
More importantly, there's a three pronged metal spring near the top of the accelerator that the panel slides into on that side.
The panel itself isn't made of the highest quality material BMW could have used, and will quite often be found to be broken at the lower mounting points, so will need replacing or the creative use of cable ties.

Well worth fitting one. It makes the whole thing more solid.

You can use a spire clip and screw if the correct plastic one is missing.

Thanks for the pics.

Wanted to create a thread about this the other day as well, but when I think about my rear suspension falling apart, a dash trim touching my feet seems like a minor inconvenience :D
