So, I've got a central locking fob for my car, I'm guessing it's an after market one (pictured). The only problem with it is that the top two buttons to lock and unlock don't really work that well, you have to wiggle them. Taking it apart and on closer inspection, this is a fault with the buttons below.

Now I have two questions, I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron, so can I just swap the top two with the bottom two that don't seem to do anything, and will taking out the battery mean it wont work with the unit in my car, or is the un-syncing only a problem with modern systems?

At times it's quicker to actually put the key in to unlock the car rather than get them to work

update - Decided to have a go and swap the switches over, an absolute pig to get back into place because they're so small, but I did it and it now works! :D seems to unlock/lock from further away - probably due to a better connection through the switch! Now just got to be careful not to unlock the car when I sit on the remote inside the house...
