After months of scouring the Internet looking for a set of wheels I've finally purchased a set that meet my criteria; that is having some dish, not being ridiculously over-sized, complimenting the E30 design and not being cheap Taiwanese replicas. With these points in mind I picked up these vintage 15X7J Remotec items for quite a reasonable price. I can't really find out much about the brand but believe the company preceded Borbet and were made in Germany, likely in the 90s. They have cleaned up pretty well and look nice and straight. Being ET40 I was well aware beforehand that they'd require spacers and after a trial fit yesterday they were definitely touching the strut. My first question is, am I right in thinking that 15mm should be about right, i.e. bringing offset down to ET25? Has anybody done this previously who can put me right? I was also wondering, seeing as spacers are sold in pairs, if anyone knows of any sizes to get a nice, moderately staggered setup?
Secondly, I was wondering if 205/55/r15 would be the preferable tyre size for these wheels? The horrible, porous 15X7J TSW wheels which the car came with are fitted with 205/50/r15s and the speedo is reading at 35 MPH when running at 30 MPH...
Whilst I'm at it, what's everyone's thoughts on running this style of wheel in 15 inch form? I was a bit concerned that they looked quite small in the arch when fitted yesterday and wondered if I should have waited for some 16s to show up. I know it's a matter of preference, but I don't want go spending on tyres and spacers and not like the end product
How it sits with the wheels that came on the car (TSW)

The new Remotecs

A quick photoshop a mate russled up to see how they'd look. Remember this is with the 205/50/r15 wheel.

Bollocks to it, have some beading too

Advice appreciated as always.
Best wishes,
Oggy
