currently i have a 320 with a 318is engine (M42b18)
The engine seems to be coming to the end of its life and at present its not even running, conveniently this comes at a time where i'm also looking for more power.
Have been doing a lot of research into different setups and so far an M20 engine seems to be the direction im going but wanted to here people thoughts/pros and cons.
Eventually I do want about 400bhp from turboing an M20... have read a lot of articles saying the stock internals of an M20 are very capable of withstanding this.. whats everyones thoughts?
The reason I'm heading this way is also partly because at present I am car-less. Mine isnt running and my e30 is technically my daily! However I work at home and have access to other vehicles therefore its not essential to have a vehicle but the withdrawel symptoms are bad its making me really really sad not being able to drive her.
Correct me if I'm wrong but dropping in an M20 engine into a 320 is a relatively easy swap?
I am also toying with an M50 swap - how easy is that to put in?
The plan would be - before turboing the engine I would have it rebuilt but firstly would just want to get it in and running until I'm ready to go on the hunt for more power...
whats everyones thoughts/advice/pros/cons please
Thanks in advance
