Remember that's a Mk3. Was your dads a Mk4 being an 86? They had a different dash. IMO even worse than the Mk3's!!1

Mark 111 Scotes were okay - as a tram they were light years ahead of the Mark 1 and 2. Light, decent handling, zippy CVH motor and five speeds. They weren't quite as good as the original Astra/Kadett but tey were good cars. I bought and sold 15-20 of these between 1988 and 1991, mostly 1.3L 5 doors, W to B plate. Easy to work on and never a problem.

I had one as my first car on the road, 1.3L, no mercy held topped out at 105mph, at 17 it felt like 200
