Hopefully starting on the fuel lines tomorrow want to replace the lot with kunifer pipe that i have and also the hoses. Are the hoses a bmw only item or can i go to the motor factors and get hose there and if so, is therr a specific hose type for petrol resistance?

Suitable fuel hose is readily available from motor factors (8mm x 13mm, IIRC, but double check), and must be a high pressure type, suitable for fuel injected engines.
I once required some when I was 150 miles from home, and was offered a choice of two makes by a nearby factors - standard or premium quality. I went for the premium stuff, and three years later I had to replace it again because it had cracked. The original BMW stuff had lasted fifteen years.

Yep, the dealer hose is a very high quality

For the hard lines I used some plastic coated aluminium tube on my track car, just did a touch of OP 1 on the ends to give the hose something to bite onto

Just looking at the diagrams, im ditching the charcoal canister. If memory is right feom xworks thread i can just terminate the hose under the car where the tank is, i think bmw did it like rhis on the m3?

Anyone know if this stuff is any good http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/silico ... hoses.html

Some of the bmw hoses are nothing more than straight bits of pipe that cost as much as a meter of the above stuff.

--- edit ---

Anyone know is no 19 the rubber that goes at the top of the filler pipe

The seal i took of the car looks much bigger or longer

No, I made that mistake. 19 is the rubber seal that fits around the fuel cap. The part you want is 51711884358, which is no. 14 on this page:

Thanks Grrr. I dont know what logic was used when they decided to include it on that diagram!

On an unrelated topic, fuel hardlines are awkward as f*** to do! I might have to order me a new role of hardline if it goes wrong again.
