Reconditioned power steering rack

Does anyone somewhere in Australia I can get a reconditioned power steering rack for my E30. The local power steering place in Perth WA quoted $875.00 for a rebuild which sounds a bit steep.

Seal kits are available to DIY. Have you considered the E36/46 upgrade route?

I have considered the upgrade route. Is there much maching needed?
The other option is to buy a second hand unit and, as you suggest, rebuild it myself. That way I can slowly rebuild it while running the car.
