hi guys ive brought a e30 m3 shell of a salvage yard cat d has anyone got a website were i can check the reg to check if its a gen?

you check by the VIN Number, not the reg.
Have you got the VIN number of the chassis ?

car came today thank god its a real m3 paid just over 5k it runs and drives looks like il only need a mainly bolt on bits on the front

it wouldn't be 5k if it wasnt a cat D even at that price i'd say it's cheap .
cat D coud just be as little as lock damage

It's just the stigma it carries for the rest of it's life but like you said cat d is very often cosmetic damage

I dont think cat d is gonna put many people off if joe ever sells as these cars are quite rare and sought after nowadays.
