I sourced a 240 gearbox from a trusted zoner however been experiencing some issues with first gear.

when I fitted the box all the seals where changed and the selector linkage parts replaced, I also fitted the z3 1.9 short shift.

The issue I'm experiencing is that when I try putting it in 1st there's a little bit of a struggle, I need to depress the clutch a couple of times and then goes in fine?

All other gears are spot on.

Any ideas what could be causing this? low gearbox oil?

Maybe clutch fluid running low, or needing some bleeding?

Still havnt had a chance to look at this but 2nd gear has started to do the same.

After with some persuasion the gears will go in but not ideal when you pulling off in traffic behind you.. :(

As above, try bleeding the clutch, and yes, check the gearbox oil level; are you sure it has the correct grade oil in it?
