So all was well with my clifford alarm for the last 2 and a half years...then the gremlins appeared the other day...
The alarm started going off and going through the sequence of different alarm tones for no apparent reason a couple of days after I changed the battery. I also noticed that the "siren" unit located under the bonnet was broken where it fits to the bracket...
So I fixed that and "reset" the alarm "valet" mode off then on, however there is now no beep when I turn the alarm on and off using the fob and I am not sure if at all related but my hooter / horn has stopped working...
Am clueless with electrics so any help appreciated...

It's a Clifford. The solution involves the use of wire cutters.

Yes I know...
However I am required to have an approved alarm for insurance purposes...
Just wondering what to do now? Should I leave it and the insurance company is non the wiser?
Can you pm me all the details of your "Hidden Switch" trick?

Doesn't it have a fused power supply? If so, just remove the fuse.

If it's anything like the Clifford install that was in my car, there were two inline fuses in the power feed, hidden behind the glovebox. I've got a Clifford install wiring diagram knocking about somewhere...that I used to cut mine out. Like a virus it was, infecting almost every part of my loom!

Wouldn't be so bad if the things were actually effective. Silenced in five seconds, and bypassed in thirty for the average install.
'Hidden switch' mod. is to find the green/purple fuel pump wire behind the LH front speaker cover, and tee a wire into it. Connect a second wire to the main earthing stud behind the glovebox area, and run both of these wires to a simple switch, either hidden or added to the array of existing switches on the centre panel.
Immobiliser is 'armed' by turning the switch on. Any attempt to start the engine will then blow fuse 11 in the fusebox.
