i have a 1.8i m10 engine in a m40 1.6i car, im not sure on what injection system it is, but has 4 injectors and the "spider" type inlet system. after spending the night looking through the pages in these forums i am keen to get the m10 fired up and plummed in with a 2.2/2.0 conversion from the early m10 (pistons/rods) + s14? head, although this is down the line.
For the time being i want the standard 1.8 m10 in, running on carb.
Can anyone advise me on exacly what is needed to run this injection engine on a carb (Wiring loom choices e.t.c) and a carb setup that wont eat all my fuel but will cope with future mods? cheers! :D

The M10 injetion system should be running on the L-Jetronic system.
You mentioned in your other thread that the engine is in but the wiring isnt?
Does this engine have a loom on it?
If you want to fit a standard carb you still need the correct loom/ECU
I would get the injection up and running, it will be easier and more beneficial, in the mean time you can build your 2.0 L engine out of the car

it has an m40 engine loom in it, can i run it off this wiring, id rather swap a loom than put an m40 back in there, why injection over webers? even if i have to buy another m10 to rebuild to a higher spec. :x

It will be a lot less hassle to put the correct loom in than trying to adapt that later M40 one.
I meant the standard carb or replacement manual choke weber one that is often the case, these are total shite and hardly go above 20mpg.
As for bigger carbs i havnt got a clue mate.

where would i be able to source a wiring loom from to suite the car? i take it that i could get a loom that will fit all my hardware that came with the m40 car, and fit a m10 e.c.u and engine, if so could you suggest a loom to use :D

An M10 one :D
The engine loom is meant to stay with the appropriate engine on removal/reffiting. Just plugs into the big connector on the bulkhead and the ECU plug feeds through the drivers side of the bulkhead under the dash.
