gathering parts for an m52 swap on my 1990 316i, was just wondering a few things i couldnt gather from the wiki.
do i need a set of 325i clocks or just the plug for the back?
can the m40 gearbox be used or will the increased power just cause problems?if so what ratio diffs have people used before with this combo?
what prices do e34 sump and dipstick parts fetch now?saw some a while back but have only seen a couple recently, mainly at about £250.
Changing my brakes also, was looking at standard calipers from a 325i but was wondering which are more desirable out of the girling or ate options.
cheers for any help
few m52 questions

You just need a 6 pot plug for the FRONT of your 'clocks'. Changing to a complete 325 set would give you fuel gauge problems.
M40 box seems to survive without problems, from what I can gather of peoples' experiences on here, but it would always be in the back of my mind when I drop the clutch if I had one fitted. You'll need a medium case diff. of around 3.76 or 3.64 to go with that.
Sumps, etc. go for what people are prepared to pay for them, and that dos seem to be approaching new price lately.
No difference between the two makes of brake, but the caliper mounting bracket has to be of the same make as well. Of more importance is to ensure that there's sufficient meat on the discs. I've come across plenty of BMW vented discs that are worn way below their minimum safe thickness.
