To put in new exhaust manifold studs I was going to do the following:
1. Put loctite on the end that goes into the head.
2. Put copper grease on the end that the nut goes on.
The idea being that next time the exhaust manifold needs to come off, the bolts will spin easily and the studs will stay in the head. Is this an OK idea, or should I just put them in without anything added?

I Wouldn't Loctite them in. What's the problem with the whole stud coming out when you try to remove the nuts? Personally, I'm just relieved to get the fixings off without broken studs when trying to remove a manifold, without worrying about which part unscrews from what.
New set of studs and copper nuts are normally required anyway, so it just saves a job if they unscrew from the head.
