on rear pop out window cars and the door card below , should there be some sort of rubber/plastic edge trim strip that goes along/attached to/holding the top edge of the door card near to the window ?

Always happens its sun damage causes the lifting and the card to try straighten , finally got round to doing something about it today
Not sure if its the best way but I've tested on spares-
- remove the door card and get boiling hot kettle and slowly pour the boiling water down that inside of the top lip, pour some give it a little bend , pour some more-hold the card flat so water stays in that lip , get it hot and wet , just keep bending it, you can feel the hot water working and get it soft and bendy
Fold it back inwards on itself get it nice and floppy making a crease L shape where the corner of the bend is , keep going up and down with your hands pushing/folding it in, and also the top corner nearest door area shape it back , basicly trying to make a nice permanent crease without breaking it , so its not quite got the rigid strength to ever pull back up due to the crease
Then i used random objects and some small dumbell weights , to get it resting and positioned in shape to dry for a few hrs, then removed it all and let it dry more and keep bending that crease every 15 20 mins
And it seemed to work well, I've put them in the car and put the weights on the top to hold it in place to let dry and cure like that , its looking good !!!
Il report back how it looks tomrrow when fully dried
Its not hard to do and will make such a nice difference to look at

Here it is drying,I figured maybe better to let the final drying commence fitted , and the lip of the card where in wondering if there is a strip that should be along that edge, I think I've seen one before but can't quite remember

I was advised to use steam to re-shape the top of my cabbie's driver's door card.
The risk you run using hot/boiling water is staining,I guess.
My door card needs doing again, four years on.
Oddly,it's just the driver's side that has suffered.

There's nothing to stain, water won't stain anything and you keep it on the inside lip - point the end to the sink and just pour it along
I think steam would take an age and maybe not quite work but would be interested to see, have no idea if this will work long term but worth a shot, only other way would be to find some sort of clamp set up to 100% hold it perfect positioned and soak or steam it and let it stay held like that for a couple of days to 100% dry
