i was just wondering if i could get away with just changing the ball joints - ive been told they arent detachable...
im guessing to just go oem with all the bushes then.

I think the powerflex rear wishbone bushes (from the zone shop) are cheaper than BMW ones, and are stiffer (but dont really increase noise/ harshness).

They're changeable on the steel arms, but I don't think so on the ally ones. Ally arms have been known to fatigue fail.adil325i wrote:i was just wondering if i could get away with just changing the ball joints - ive been told they arent detachable...

Tourings should have ally control arms as well. Are these the same?
Never found a touring yet that still has one fitted though.

I think it's only the later 325i tourings that had the ally arms, and would be the same as the M3 items.Brianmoooore wrote:Tourings should have ally control arms as well. Are these the same?

Haven't read about any failing though, and read S14 net quite regular, and if any were going to fail, it would be on an M3? Where do you mean they fail? At the ball joints or elsewhere?

These alloy arms are one of the best parts on the M3 they are very strong and have heat treated ball joints. The E36 M3 3.2 Evo has the same size ball joints so if one were to find a set of those they can be pressed into the alloy arms.

Read about failures somewhere, but only in racing applications and after a lot of use.

Eurocarparts list the alloy arm, but only for the 325 Touring
