Hi, drove the car home tonight, a few odd judders, was a bit worried going through the Hindhead tunnel it might cut out all together !!.
Basically driving along and its like it very quickly turned off and then back on again, in a split second resulting in a slight jolt every time, accelerating or not, it's the same but perhaps more when accelerating.
all indications remained the same and no other problems, no drop in revs, no warning lights
car has just been serviced, everything works perfect, fuel pump is not noisy, no vacuum leaks etc
1990 318i auto - no modifications.

If the dash cluster didn't drop out, then I'd suspect something in the ignition system; worn distributor cap, bad spark plug, that sort of thing.

ok, yer the dash is fine, all operating normal
I was thinking something in the fuel system, like blocked filter, FPR or injectors causing it to run lean...just a thought but it behaved very much like when I was running out of fuel once

Could be all manner of things; check the engine-to-body earth strap and battery and ignition coil terminals are tight, then distributor rotor arm and cap, also HT leads are secure.
