Manual Steering to Power Assisted Steering

Hi,

I own a 1989 316i and my old rack has sort of aged beyond repair. Now that I need to change my rack I am considering switching over to a power assisted system.

Has anyone here done this conversion and know the exact parts that I need to have before I start? Also I am considering going directly to a e36 rack because it is 3.2 turns end to end as compared to 4.0 of the e30 power assisted rack.

Set of E36/46 (46 now the preferred rack) pipes and steering link from DanThe, and then contact one of the trusted sellers on here who will fit you up with the pump, bottle, rest of the pipes, pulley, etc. Just tell them what you're up to, and they'll know all the bits you need.

Thanks. I'm new so I don't know where to find the trusted sellers but I'll figure that out.

Why is the e46 rack now preferred to the e36 rack?
