Guys I have taken the relay out. The small one took it to bmw to replace. They said it's the big relay I have to replace. Is this true

The small one is for the interior lighting apparently

its a bigger relay its in the drivers side footwell, take off the speaker panel by your right foot, remove the speaker, reach down in the gap and there will be a relay at the bottom some where.

Would probably help if you told us why you've taken it off.

The central locking has stopped working I can only unlock the car once I have manually locked the doors. Also I can lock the passangr door with the key.
The drivers side is knackerd the key just turns when trying to lock it

Is all this locking/unlocking totally unassisted by the central locking? I.e. The central locking is completely dead?
Assuming the answer to both the above is "yes", slide the circuit board out, as shown in the pic., look for signs of water damage, and check the component that is right at the bottom corner of the pic. Is the little metal blade up the side attached to the top of the component or sprung back from it?

Sort this out before the C/L.

Repair kits for the lock are available from BMW.
