Just wondering if there's a limiter on the convertibles - the car revs happily over 5,500rpm in all gears except 5th when it stops at 5,500rpm at an indicated 120mph.
I very much doubt this is the car running out of steam as I've done it twice and it's hit 5,500rpm with a jolt on both occasions as if it's limited.
If it is limited, how do I remove it?
Or is there another explanation like maximum bhp being reached at 5,500rpm and so the car can't manage any more?
318i convertible - speed limited?

That's my guess!Zayyan wrote:Or is there another explanation like maximum bhp being reached at 5,500rpm and so the car can't manage any more?

Max bhp for an M20 is at about 5500rpm, so that is probably the answer. Cabs have a higher cd too.
