Hi, I have a 1993 318i convertible. I bought it with plans to make the hood work as the guy i got it off said that the rear hood cover part used to move up and down but when he got it out the garage it had just stopped working. I thought it must have just been a fuse thats blown. The motor works when i run a direct live to it and theres power to the rear relay box but it seems that thers no power to the switch on the dash. Could anyone be of help? Ive checked the micro swith behingd the passenger rear seat and that is all fine. Could someone please help me or even direct me to a good wiring diagram???
Thanks

Hi,

I had the same trouble with mine (not sure if the dash switch had no power though). I disconnected all of the electrical connectors in the boot and removed the main motor and drive mechanism which pushes the hood up and down.
I twisted the drive mechanism back about 1/4 of a turn as i suspected that the mirco switches were out of sink on the main motor.
I then connected everything back up and every thing started working again, (After a lot of fiddling about to acheive the correct timing of each motor)
In total i think the hood has 5 micro switches, 2 on the hood flap motor, 2 on the main motor, and 1 in the corner of the conpartment.
I think you might find that the sensor on the hood flap motor on your car has the mirco switch in the wrong rotational position hence everything is out of seqence and the main hood computer modula isn't sending power to either motor.
If i can help anymore just let me know.

Good luck

Dean
