Hi
I have had a few problems with an estate 325i 1988 manual I purchased recently.
We have changed the diff, drive shaft and few other bits but there is still an annoying loud noice coming from the centre of car when you start driving and a few people have suggested changing prop shaft.
I have also changed the dougnut ring thing as well and this has not stopped the noise.
I need a step by step guide for my mechanic mate who will try and get it on.
I will also need to knwo what tools are needed please.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You've alienated a good proportion of the members on here by referring to a touring as an estate, but I'll still offer advice!
If the noise is coming from the centre of the car, it's quite likely that the centre bearing support has failed - quite common, and unlikely to be anything wrong with the prop. itself.
Rear half of exhaust off, heat shields off, unbolt joints at either end of the prop., unbolt centre bearing support, drop down in the middle and remove prop.
Unscrew the sleeve around the splined section, check that the white alignment paint dots are present, pull the two halves of the prop apart, remove circlip, remove centre bearing, fit replacement centre bearing and carrier, refit circlip, refit prop, reattach centre bearing, setting pre-load, and tighten sleeve around sliding section.
Tools - nothing out of the ordinary, except the circlip pliers.

Estate, wagons, shooting brakes are all vehicles made by other manufacturers for carrying around larger loads than the saloon equivalents. The E30 touring is a "lifestyle choice", and actually has a nominal load capacity considerably less than that of the saloon.

Thank you Brianmoore. I will pass the info on and hopefully will sort it out.
I called it a 'Tourer' on here a few months back when I got it , and got slated for that so I called it an estate and thats not right too?
I agree with you about the 'lifestyle choice' even though I got a standard tech 2 sport my daily is an e46 Touring/estate/tourer/chariot.
Thank you for the advice on the prop shaft
