My car will be going into a garage this week for a few bits and I am supplying the parts and just need some confirmation with bits needed, will be getting them from ecp but need some help getting the right bits, it's a g plate 325i

Any difference in quality from these 2 and is that all they guy will need to do it?

http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/timing-belt-kits

Also doing water pump while its all apart but have 3 choices so not sure which one and if I'll need the gaskets or if they come supplied?

http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/water-pump-gasket

Anything else I should do while they have it in bits??

Also I'm having the rear axle bushes done will 2 of the below be all be needs to that??

http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/ecp/ ... 2df&000273

Just don't want the job delayed because of wrong bits or missing parts

Cheers for any help

Either brand is good on the cambelt. Probably worth getting a fan belt and pas belt while you are at it. I use KWP water pumps and have NEVER had a prob or comeback Lemforder subframe bushes are OE so no probs there.

The delays will usually caused by all the missing/broken / foooked related bits :(

If you decide on a BMW water pump, they give you a rebate on your old one, even if it's a non-genuine part - usually about £20 off.

Its a shame , even after the 'rebate' the pump from BMW will cost you more than ALL of the other bits together !

I've bought a couple, for the M20B25 and M30B35 - they were only about £80 each, not too bad for a genuine part that will last at least 3 years or so.

You take your chances with cheap water pumps - I've heard of some lasting less than a year, and given that they are a PITA to replace, you are better off getting a decent quality one.

That's why you buy a KWP pump. No aggro, no dramas , much cheapness :)

Ok I'll have an ask when I'm down there, if I end up with a different make do I need to buy gaskets and stuff or should it all come with the pump?

I've had a quote from the garage I use and to do cambelt and water pump and change the bushes

Does £300 sound reasonable?

Sounds reasonable to me (it would probably take a full day at least to do that little lot), and yes, those Lemforder subframe bushes are OEM quality.

The bushes will push up the labour time, but the belt and pump should be feasible in 2 to 3 hours for a mechanic knowledgeable about the M20 engine.

As mentioned above whilst doing the belt change your other v belts too, I would also replace the belt tensioner, the spring and pin used with the tensioner if your not sure the last time it was done.

He's said should be 4hrs or there abouts for the lot, does the kit not come with the spring and pin, it comes with the new tensioner so is that not included?

Can't bloody wait for the bushes to be done the back end feels awful at the moment, it's that bad I thought the spring was snapped before it got looked at, driving round like miss daisy at the minute lol

No, quite often the tensioner doesn't come with the spring and pin - I had to re-use my old one.

It's usually just the pulley bearing that wears out though.
