I may be being dim but having replaced the clutch master cylinder I can't now get the metal pipe union to the master cylinder to tighten up.

Is it just a case of pushing the metal pipe into the cylinder (where it comes through the bulkhead) and then tightening the 13 mil union nut clockwise?

If so, I think something's gone wrong with the thread 'cause it doesn't want to grip/ tighten at all - just pops out again.

Any advice lads? Cheers, Nick

You did take the plastic transport/packing plug off?

:D I did, Ben yeah. If only that was it. I could be stupid but happy.

TBH I've got a sinking feeling that the threads on the union are toast and that's why I can't tighten it up.

If that's the case, presume its an entirely new pipe required? Where does the other end go to? (Mild panic setting in at this point...).

Pipe unions can be a pain if the pipe is a bit bent.

You need to make sure that you are lining it up absolutely true.

You should be able to start it with your fingers if you get it straight.

Stick the pipe in and wiggle it a bit (fnah fnah) as you try to tighten it with your fingers. You should be able to feel the thread catch.

That's what I've been doing amigo. Also gave it a liberal coating of wd40 beforehand. I'll have another go but ain't confident. I think I was hoping there was some little trick I was missing.
